Digital manipulation/ Digital experiments 6. Tablet vs Cintiq

In the past I have always used a Wacom graphics tablet. I’ve used all different types but apart from size they were all pretty much the same.  Now that I’m in university a have a lot more opportunities to use industry graded resources, one of these is the Cintiq. I had used one previously but only for a few minuets.

This is what a Cintiq looks like
Cintiq

Pros
. They have a much larger work screen, this allows you get much nicer pen strokes.
. Your work is shown on screen which means it’s a lot more like hand drawing.
. They can be used as a dual monitor set up.

Cons

. They are very large and it could be difficult to be portable.
. They are also very expensive costing around £2000 at the cheapest.
. Working on such a large space for a long time can hurt your arm.

. They cost a lot less, you can get one new for £50
. They are quiet durable

Cons

. They tend to be small.
. You don’t work directly onto the screen.
. Some are wireless witch makes them not as responsive.
