The Book of Drawings. Artist research/ Lorenz Oken

Another Illustrator I wish to look at is Lorenz Oken as he also studied natural history illustration. His illustrations look similar to those of Maria Sibylla Merian but I think hers appear more delicate. I did notice that he also used a similar colour pallet to Merian, even though I think his illustrations look drabber. He did a lot of species charts which are really interesting to look at and help when studying this type of illustration. Below are some of Oken’s species charts, something similar to this may be good inspiration for my book.
